The Chodosh-Seidl residence is a duplex loft that includes a rooftop addition in the Tribeca Historic District. Given the constraints of the New York Landmarks Commission mandate for rooftop additions to be minimally visible, a sloping glass roof is sliced out of the enclosure to create a line of skylights along the northern and western edges of the addition, thus reducing the visibility from the street and creating a feeling of a modern garret that is autobiographical to the site. The existing fifth floor will remain as the living / dining / kitchen area with four bedrooms and two baths located on the new sixth floor.
